Extradition: Abba Kyari to Know Fate on August 29

Extradition, Hushpuppi, Abba Kyari

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday announced that it would give judgment in the extradition proceedings involving suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari, on August 29.

The court presided over by Justice Ekwo Inyang informed parties to the extradition proceedings of the judgment date shortly after the parties made their final submissions.

Kyari, previously celebrated as one of Nigeria’s finest police officers, is currently facing trial for drug peddling in Nigeria and is similarly wanted in the United States (US) for his alleged involvement in cyber-fraud crimes perpetrated by Abbas Ramon (a.k.a Hushpuppi).

At Friday’s proceedings, Kyari’s lawyer, Nureini Jimoh (SAN) faulted the extradition application filed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and prayed the court to reject it. Lawyer to the AGF, Pius Akutah however argued that the AGF had complied with all necessary requirements for an extradition process.
