The National Security Adviser, Retired Major General Babagana Monguno has warned state governors to desist from using thugs to prevent their opposition from erecting campaign materials in their states to avoid being chased by security agents.
Speaking at the 60th session of the weekly Ministerial Media Briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Team in Abuja on Thursday, Monguno said law enforcement agencies would be on the look out for erring governors and make sure of no hiding place for them.
He was reacting to reports of state governors implementing policies that prevent the presence of opposition campaign materials in their states and blamed the action on what he called an inferiority complex.
He noted that President Muhammadu Buhari had given directives that the 2023 election must be free, fair and credible hence the need for governors to ensure a conducive environment for peaceful conduct of elections.
