Fubara, Agbu, Sani, win governorship elections in Rivers, Taraba, Kaduna, as Zulum secures second term in Borno

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Siminaliayi Fubara, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Rivers state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, on Monday night, declared Fubara winner after he polled 302,614 votes to defeat his closet rival Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress who scored 95,274 votes.

The Social Democratic Party candidate, Senator Magnus Abe, and Labour Party’s Beatrice Itubo came a distant third and fourth with 46,981 and 22,224 votes respectively.

Similarly, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Taraba state, Kefas Agbu has been declared the winner of the Taraba State governorship election.

The state returning officer Prof M.A. Abdulazeez at 12:30 am on Tuesday announced that Kefas Agbu, scored 257,926 votes to edge out the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Muhammad Yahaya, who polled 202,277 votes.

In third place, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Emmanuel Bwacha, garnered 142,502 ballots.

In the same vein, the All Progressives Congress candidate in Kaduna state, Senator Uba Sani, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

The INEC Collation Officer, Prof. Lawal Bilbis, who announced the result said the APC candidate polled 730,002 votes while his closest rival, Isah Ashiru Kudan of the Peoples Democratic Party, scored 719,196 votes.

The PDP candidate won in 13 LGAs of the state while Sani, the incumbent Senator representing the Kaduna Central Senatorial District of the state, won 10 LGAs.

Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has secured a second term with a landslide victory at the March 18 governorship elections.

Declaring the result, the state’s Returning Officer, Prof Jude Tsammani Rabo, said Zulum on the platform of APC, scored 545,543, defeating his distant trailer, Mohammed Ali Jajari of the PDP, who polled 82,147 votes.
