One of the legal representatives for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Aloy Ejimakor, announced that the Supreme Court has issued the Certified True Copy (CTC) of its ruling on the case.
In an X (Formerly Twitter) post on Monday, Ejimakor mentioned that the court assured the transmission of the case file to the Federal High Court would occur by Tuesday.
Last week, Kanu’s family expressed dissatisfaction with the Supreme Court’s delay in releasing the CTC, citing potential hindrances to further legal actions the family might have pursued.
The Supreme Court had, on December 15, 2023, overturned the Appeal Court’s decision that had previously acquitted the IPOB leader of terrorism charges filed by the Federal Government. The apex court directed that Kanu should face trial at the appropriate court.
Addressing the concerns raised by Kanu’s family, Aloy Ejimakor stated on Monday, “Today, the Supreme Court released the CTC of its judgment in ‘Federal Republic of Nigeria versus Nnamdi Kanu’.
“The Court also promised to transmit the case file to the Federal High Court by tomorrow (Tuesday). Sooner than later, we shall lock horns at the Federal High Court to #FreeMNK.”
