A Lagos State Chief Magistrate Court in Ogba has ordered the remand in prison custody of the suspected killer of a local government staffer, Kazeem Idowu Keshinro.
The four suspects, Mukaila Salau known as Actor, Tiyamiyu Ahmed, Wasiu Suleimon, and Ibrahim Ekemode, were brought before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi on two counts of charges.
According to the charges filed by the police, the suspects on the 1st of April 2024 at about 09:00 am at Otta Ikosi Agbowa in the Lagos Magisterial District, conspired to commit robbery, which is an offence Contrary to Section 299 of the Criminal Laws Cap. Ch.Vol.3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
In the second charge, they were alleged to have unlawfully killed Idowu Keshinro and thereby committed an offence Contrary to Section 233 of the Criminal Laws Cap. Ch.Vol.3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Due to the nature of the offence, the state counsel representing the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions prayed for a remand order pending when the office would issue legal advice for their arraignment at the state High Court.
Magistrate Owolabi granted the request and ordered that the suspects should be remanded in Kirikiri prison for thirty days for the issuance of DPP Legal Advice.
The matter was subsequently adjourned till October 10 for mention.
It would be recalled that Kazeem Idowu, also described as a hunter and a staffer of Ikosi-Ejirin local government, had been attacked while on hunting activities in the Ota area of Ikorodu, Lagos State. He was ambushed, attacked, shot severally, and macheted on the orders of Mukaila Salau, also known as Actor, a notorious land grabber who was physically present at the scene. Kazeem Idowu, in a chilling video, was seen soaked in his pool of blood with his body riddled with bullets as he recounted the attack.
