Frontline Presidential Candidate in the upcoming NBA National Elections, Olumide Akpata has mourned the passing of Sir Chiobu Ekpechi, who passed on the 15th of July 2020 at the age of 90. In a statement made to newsmen on Thursday, Akpata expressed his condolences to the Enugu Bar, the Eastern Bar Forum and the friends and family of the deceased while recalling the amiable nature of the late Sir Ekpechi.
He said: “I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends and well-wishers of late Sir Chiobu Ekpechi, who passed on Wednesday at the age of 90. Sir Ekpechi was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1967 and remained in active legal practice throughout the duration of his career. He was amiable, approachable and a delight to interact with in and out of court and I must say, he lived a fulfilling life.
Yet as always, it is a painful thing to lose anyone, especially someone like Sir Ekpechi, whose impact has spanned several generations and who has been an inspiration to many.
I also extend my condolences to the Enugu Bar and the Eastern Bar Forum, where he dutifully spent his long and illustrious career. The NBA will miss you, Sir Ekpechi.
May the soul of the deceased rest in peace and may God comfort those he left behind.
With sincere sympathy,
OLUMIDE AKPATA”
