Our correspondents have just received word that frontline Presidential candidate in the upcoming NBA elections, Olumide Akpata, will not be participating in the Platform interactive session for the Presidential candidates billed to hold later today, Sunday July 19, 2020. In a notice issued to the public and press men last night by Akpata’s campaign team, it was stated that in compliance with an email notice sent to Olumide Akpata by the ECNBA, Olumide Akpata will not be participating in the session.
The short notice reads:
“Please note that in compliance with an email notice received from the ECNBA, Olumide Akpata will not be participating in the Platform interactive session billed for the 19th of July 2020 or any other debate or interactive session involving more any other candidate. We thank the organisers of the Platform interactive session for the work that they have put into organising the session, and hope that they and members of the public understand with us”.
It may be recalled that only recently, the ECNBA also issued a directive, restricting candidates from participating in debates of any kind in the run up to the elections.
