Fire Guts INEC Headquarters In Ondo, Destroys Card Readers
The Ondo State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is currently on fire.
The fire outbreak which started at the ICT unit of the commission, destroying smart card readers in the inferno.
With the cause of the outbreak unknown at the time of filing this report.
The Chief Press Secretary to INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, confirmed the incident in a short statement titled ‘Fire at INEC office in Akure’.
He noted that the commission would commence an immediate investigation into the cause of the fire.
The commission is situated in Alagbaka area of Akure, the state capital.
Governorship election in the state had been scheduled for October 10, 2020.
