The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) called off its strike, ending a protracted industrial action that started since March 2020.
ASUU National President, Biodun Ogunyemi, made the announcement during a briefing of the union in Abuja on Wednesday, explaining that the development followed consultations with its National Executive Council.
Last month, the country’s Minister of Labour Chris Ngige said the government had made new proposals bothering on core issues at the heart of the prolonged dispute.
The issues included funding for the revitalisation of universities, earned allowances, the shortfall in salaries, visitation panels for universities and use of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).
