A Nigerian nurse based in the United States, Ogonna, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, through her legal representative, B I. Dakum & Co., accusing Dr. Stephen Akintayo, CEO of GText Homes Limited, along with associates Abisola Awosanya, Abimbola Joseph Olupaiye, and their Dubai-based partners, of alleged criminal conspiracy, diversion of funds, and obtaining $21,500 under false pretenses.
The petition, dated December 30, 2024, detailed how Ms. Ogonna was lured into a real estate investment scheme for a one-bedroom apartment at Regina Tower, Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Dubai, after attending a widely publicized seminar hosted by Dr. Akintayo.
According to the petition, the complainant paid a total of $21,500 into Stephen Akintayo consulting and an Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank account linked to the investment. However, communication with Dr. Akintayo and his associates reportedly ceased after the payments, with efforts to secure a refund proving futile.
Ms. Ogonna has urged the police to thoroughly investigate the activities of Dr. Akintayo, his partners, and their associated companies, both in Nigeria and Dubai, to prevent further exploitation of unsuspecting investors.
The petition includes supporting documents, email, WhatsApp communications and proofs of payment made, requesting swift action from law enforcement to ensure justice is served.
