BIGWIG Essay Competition: “Law and the Future of Money; Will Technology Eliminate Banking?”

Young lawyers of Nigerian origin and between the 1st and 7th years of post-qualification experience are invited to participate in the BIGWIG Essay Competition organised by the promoters of the BIGWIG legal docuseries.

The BIGWIG legal docuseries, unveiled at the 62nd Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in August 2022, showcases the accomplishments of corporate-commercial lawyers who have made their marks in the legal profession in Nigeria. Anchored by Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Koye Kekere-Ekun, the legal docuseries has thus far featured interviews with notable transaction lawyers such as Chief Chris Ogunbanjo, Mr Gbenga Oyebode, Mr Asue Ighodalo and Mr George Etomi.

The essay competition launched on December 15, 2022 is supported by the law firms of Aluko & Oyebode; Banwo & Ighodalo; and George Etomi & Partners.

Interested lawyers are invited to write an essay on the topic: *”Law and the Future of Money: Will Technology Eliminate Banking?”*

Prizes for the competiton include N1,500,000 cash prize for the winner, N1,000,000 for the first runner-up and N500,000 for the second runner-up.

Entry Rules

1. The Competition is open to lawyers between 1-7 years post-call

2. Essay submitted must not be less than 5000 words, using Times New Roman font with font size of 12 and 1.5 line spacing. Use the OSCOLA referencing style.
