Mr. Damilare Ojo, a lawyer based in the Federal Capital Territory, took to social media to share his experience with the dreaded Coronavirus disease. Ojo recently tested negative to the virus and was discharged from the Gwagwalada isolation centre in Abuja.
The young lawyer shared his experience on Arise TV recently. He revealed that he tested positive to COVID-19 two weeks ago, but recovered from the disease after two weeks of treatment, leading to his discharge from the isolation center.
During the video session, Ojo said,
“I was one of the people who were in doubt as to the existence of the COVID virus and how it really affected us in Nigeria. I thought it really never existed until I tested positive.
“It really takes quite a lot of energy to come on air to speak about this situation and I feel highly emotional about it because it really took a toll on me emotionally I must say but, the isolation centre… it was quite a fantastic space.”
The COVID-19 survivor also praised the treatment he received at the isolation center, revealing that patients were given drugs to boost their immunity and that the atmosphere at the centre was positive.
He said:
“I must say the welfare packages that accrued to a lot of COVID-19 patients at the centre where I was, is really quite impressive and indeed we need to appreciate the Government for what they did.
“I was in a private ward and I didn’t need any form of influence to get that ward. Everybody in Gwagalada isolation centre was put in a private ward, well treated, we were well fed with a lot of proteinous meals that would boost our immune system.”
Ojo also pledged to continue to share his story on social media via video posts that would come in phases. Those interested in the videos can follow him on Instagram @ojhorde.
