Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN has reiterated the Federal government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of civil servants through the payment of wage awards that align with current socio-economic conditions.
Fagbemi, emphasizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to recognizing Civil Servants in the nation, assured that the government will continue to create a conducive environment for them due to their contributions to nation-building.
Fagbemi made these remarks on Friday in his keynote address during the Ministerial Service Award for Justice Sector in Commemoration of the Nigerian Public Service held in Abuja,.
The initiative, which is being established, marks the first of its kind by any sitting President.
Representing the Minister, Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba, the Solicitor General Federation and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, highlighted that the concept of a Public Service Award aligns with the service’s mission statement as outlined by the office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
“The current administration in the country is quite keen on promoting an enabling environment for its workforce as well as creating opportunities for sustainable economic development.”
In her address, Mrs J.C Ozuru, the Representative of the Head of Service, emphasized the importance of recognition over monetary rewards.
She encouraged other government bodies to follow the example set by the Federal Ministry of Justice in celebrating their hardworking staff.
The Director of Human Resources Management, Mrs Mabel Erastus, highlighted the government’s commitment to rewarding the efforts of ministry and agency staff. A total of 48 recipients from various sectors within the justice ministry were honored and presented with plaques of excellence during the ceremony.
The DG National Productivity Centre, Dr Nasir Raji-Mustapha, spoke on the Digitization of work processes in the public service: A gateway to efficient resource utilization and national development.
