Biodun Oyebanji Sworn-In As Ekiti Governor

Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has been sworn-in as the seventh executive Governor of Ekiti State.

Oyebanji was sworn with his Deputy Chief Monisade Afuye, at the sprawling Ekiti Parapo Pavillon, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The ceremony was performed by Ekiti Chief Judge, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji has promised to implement a six-point agenda to bring economic prosperity and change to governance in the state.

He said his six point developmental agenda would focus on job creation, human capital development, agriculture and rural development, infrastructure and industrialization, arts culture and tourism as well as governance.

Oyebanji noted that the agenda was carefully selected based on his experience in public and private sector coupled with the yearnings of the masses to improve the status of the state.

The Governor urged stakeholders and the people to support his administration and assured them of transparency and accountability while in office.

The immediate past Governor of Ekiti state, Dr kayode Fayemi expressed the belief that the new Governor would continue to make the state better for economic prosperity.

Dignitaries present include the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu; Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and his Plateau State counterpart, Simon Lalong.

Others include Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) among others.

Biodun Oyebanji contested the June 18 governorship poll, under the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket, he polled 187,057 votes to beat his closest rival, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, who garnered 82,211 votes and Otunba Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party who raked in 67,457 votes.
