Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Lagos East Senatorial bye-election Tokunbo Abiru has been declared winner of the election.
Results announced by Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) shows that Abiru polled a total of 89,204 votes while his opponent, Babatunde Gbadamosi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 11,257 votes, leaving a margin of 77,947 votes.
The result also shows that Abiru defeated his Gbadamosi by a wide margin in the five local government areas of the senatorial district, they are, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Kosofe, Shomolu and Ikorodu.
