The Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced controversial cross-dresser and social media celebrity Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, to six months imprisonment with no option of fine for mutilation of the Naira
The judge said the judgement would serve as deterrent to those who take delight in abusing the Naira.
The defendant was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
EFCC had on Thursday, filed a six-count charge against him.
The court convicted Bobrisky following his guilty plea to a criminal charge brought against him by the Commission.
The Judge, however, ordered that the jail term commences on March 24, 2024, the day of Bobrisky’s arrest.
There was, however, a mild drama in the courtroom on Friday before pronouncing the sentence on the convict when the Judge asked about Bobrisky’s sex, and he quickly replied that he was a man.
