As voting begins in the ongoing governorship election in Ondo State, sporadic shootings have been reported in a polling unit.
The incident occurred at Pollíng Unit 11, Edo Lodge in Oke Ijebu, Akure.
Confirming the shooting, the State Police spokesman, Tee-Lee Ikoro said operatives have been deployed to the affected area.
Ikoro disclosed that Mobile Police operatives were deployed to ensure the protection of voters at the scene.
Meanwhile, reports also have it that gunmen invaded polling unit 4, ward 4, Ijomu/Obanla, in Akure South local government, at about 8.40 am.
A young man who was identified simply as Gboyega, was shot in the process and was rushed to the hospital on a motorcycle.
