A British doctor, identified as Nicholas Chapman, is currently facing trial for allegedly lacing a woman’s cup of coffee with his semen. The 55-year-old defendant is accused of attempting to engage in non-consensual sexual activity with the woman on two separate occasions.
During the trial at Gloucester Crown Court, the victim, whose identity is protected by law, testified that she discovered a “gloopy” substance at the bottom of her cup after consuming the drink provided by Chapman.
Alarmed by her findings, the victim promptly reported the suspicious matter to the police, who advised her to preserve the evidence by freezing it. Subsequent laboratory analysis confirmed that the substance was indeed “sperm related to the doctor.”
When Chapman was apprehended at his workplace, he expressed shock during the interview and suggested that the presence of semen in the coffee might be linked to a unique medical condition he has had since his teenage years.
According to the prosecution attorney Richard Posner, the victim had harbored concerns about the taste of the coffee Chapman made for her for a while, suspecting that something was amiss.
On September 13, 2021, while disposing of the contents of her cup, she noticed the gloopy substance at the bottom. Virginia Cornwall, representing Chapman in his defense, stated that the doctor had no sexual interest in the woman and did not exhibit any inappropriate behavior towards her. He denied making her coffee on that particular day and denied tampering with her coffee at any time.
