The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, Monday, tasked judiciary officers to justify the confidence that the citizenry reposes in the integrity of their offices.
The CJN noted that holding of public employment in the court system is a public trust, saying it must be preserved to enhance judiciary integrity and independence of the court.
Ariwoola stated this Monday while delivering a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Hybrid National Workshop on Court Services for Court Registrars, Commissioner of Oath, Court Clerks, Bailiffs and Process Servers in Abuja.
The workshop is with the theme; ‘Advancing Justice through Effective Court.’
Giving a welcome address earlier, the administrator, National Judicial Institute (NJI), Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi, said the workshop was to intimate stakeholders and administrative staff on the need for enhanced productivity in the sector.
“Efforts are being made by the judiciary to meet the expectations of litigants, court users, general public and the need for them to key into ICT to enhance an efficient and transparent service delivery.
The CJN while declaring the ceremony open reminded the judiciary officers that effective court services are not merely about expediting cases but by ensuring accessibility, transparency and fairness.
The CJN thereafter charged participants to be proactive in adopting best practices that will foster a culture of continuous improvement and embracing innovation.
“Note that the holding of public employment in the court system is public trust, justified by the confidence that the citizenry reposes in the integrity of the offices and the employees of the judiciary,” the CJN stated further.
