A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has convicted and sentenced two men identified as Lucky Christopher and Friday Lenu to 12 years imprisonment for defiling a 10-year-old girl in Eleme Local Area of the state.
The court presided over by Chief Magistrate Rita Oguguo, delivering judgment on Tuesday, held that the prosecution proved that the convicts penetrated into the private part of the teenage girl and defiled her without her consent.
The court also held that the statement of the victim and evidence tendered during hearing corroborated the statement of the convicts, proving that the accused were truly guilty.
The magistrate said evidence available to the court showed that the convicts, Christopher and Lenu, on April 20, 2022, defiled the 10-year-old girl in Eleme and also threatened to kill her and her aunty if she ever revealed what happened to anyone.
After considering the arguments of both parties and exhibits, the Chief magistrate convicted the defendants to seven years in count one and five years in the second count making it total of 12 years each, adding that the sentence would run concurrently.
