Court Orders Arrest of APGA Leader Over Forgery of Court Judgement

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Bwari, Abuja, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a factional leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Edozie Njoku.

Chief Njoku and one Chukwuemeka Nwoga are facing a 14 count criminal charge of alleged forgery of a Supreme Court Judgment as well as the letter headed paper of retired Justice Mary Peter-Odili.

When the matter was called, Prosecution Counsel and Chief Superintendent of Police Mr Rimamsonte Ezekiel, informed the court that the defendants had been served and were aware of their arraignment but refused to show up in court.

Mr Ezekiel urged the court to issue a bench warrant for the arrest of the two defendants to compel their appearance in court to defend the allegations against them.

Counsel to the Defendants, Mr Panam Ntui argued that the defendants had not been served personally as required by law and that the 1st defendant, Chief Njoku was currently outside the jurisdiction of the court and would be asking for a short adjournment to return from his trip to Imo State.

The court subsequently held that the actions of the defendants were deliberate and intentional hence the request of the prosecution should be granted.

He accordingly made an order for the arrest of the defendants and adjourned until the 28th of this month for the arraignment of the defendants.
