A Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory has fixed 7th November, 2023, for hearing of the case seeking to terminate the appointment of the current Minister of Interior; Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
A civil society and non-governmental organization, Advancement Of Social Justice and Economic Development Initiatives had approached the court to nullify the nomination, confirmation and appointment of the minister for alleged infractions in his credentials while being screened by the national assembly, particularly, as it relates to his NYSC Certificate which he obtained while he was still an Honorable Member of the House of Representatives between May, 2019-May, 2023.
A copy of the hearing notice in respect of the case marked suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1140/23 obtained by our correspondence shows that the case has been set down for hearing on the 7th of November, 2023.
In the suit, the minister was named as the 1st defendant while the attorney-general was named as the 2nd defendant.
The plaintiff in the suit seeks the following reliefs: An order of this Honourable Court nullifying the appointment of the 1st Defendant as a Minister of the Federal Republic Nigeria.
An order of interlocutory injunction restraining the 1st defendant herein from parading himself as a Minister of the Federal Republic Nigeria.
An order of interlocutory injunction restraining the 2nd defendant and the President of the Federal Republic Nigeria from recognizing the 1st Defendant as a Minister of the Federal Republic Nigeria, forthwith.
