A Federal High Court, Abuja, has voided the appointment of Federal Character Commission (FCC) Chairman, Muheeba Dankaka and the Secretary, Bello Tukur, from the northern region by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Delivering his judgement, Justice Inyang Ekwo, held that the former president had failed to comply with the provisions of the laws in the duo’s appointment.
A human rights advocate, Festus Onifade, had, sued the President, Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), and others on the premise that their appointments did not follow Federal Character Commission (Establishment,) Act 1995.
Buhari had, on April 28, 2020, appointed Dankaka from Kwara, as the chairman of the commission for a five-year tenure and re-appointed Tukur from Taraba as secretary for a term of four years in 2021.
