The Akwa Ibom State Government has began the prosecution of defaulters of the Quarantine and Restriction of Movement Regulations, 2020.
Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Akwa-Ibom, Mr. Uwemedimo Nwoko said that the police had impounded more than one thousand vehicles, saying that all defaulters will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Residents are to Stay at Home to prevent spread of COVID-19.
The law signed by the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel on the 30th of March is valid till 30th of April.
The Commissioner who also visited the Magistrate Court, Uyo during a monitoring exercise told defaulters to cooperate with the Akwa Ibom state Government as government was working in the best interest of the masses.
He urged them to stay at home if the court eventually rules in their favour
