Kogi State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, based in Abuja, has officially rejected the petition filed by the Action Peoples Party (APP) challenging the legitimacy of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo’s election as the Governor of Kogi State.
The petition withdrawal, presented by Counsel Daniel Edeachi, Esq., was unopposed by the counsels representing Governor Ododo, APC, and INEC.
The Tribunal, presided over by Hon. Justice Ado Yusuf Birnin-Kudu, granted the withdrawal after a thorough review of the affidavit of no-objection submitted by the respondents’ counsels.
Consequently, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, the Tribunal issued a ruling officially striking out the petition.
It is noteworthy that three other petitions are yet to be heard by the Election Tribunal, keeping the legal proceedings in the aftermath of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi State ongoing.
