Former Executive Director of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Captain Ezekiel Bala Ababa, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos for laundering the sum of N1.5 billion.
Delivery the judgement on Thursday, Justice Ibrahim Buba held that the EFCC proved the charges against Agaba beyond reasonable doubts.
In 2015, the EFCC had alleged that the convict while serving as the Executive Director in charge of Maritime, Safety and Shipping, fraudulently conspired with the then Director General Patrick Akpobolokemi, to obtain the huge sum by false pretence from the Federal Government after which it was fraudulently converted.
