FG Presents Protest Letter To Ivorian Ambassador To Nigeria Over The Death Of It’s Citizen
The Nigeria Government on Thursday presented a letter of protest over the death of Itunu Babalola, to the Ambassador of Cote D’ivoire, Traore Kallilou.
The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa who made the move, also demanded for full autopsy and justice on issues surrounding the circumstances that led to her death in prison; adding that the federal government demands details of the incident.
Dabiri-Erewa who seized the occasion of the visit to the Ivorian Ambassador, cautioned Nigerians living outside the country against the use of pseudo-names.
She advised them to use their “real identity in whatever they do and also register their presence in Nigerian Missions in their places of residence.”
This is as she called on the “Diaspora to always be good ambassadors of Nigeria by obeying the laws of their host countries.”
On his part, Ambassador Kallilou pledged to “ensure that nothing is swept under carpet and autopsy report monitored and published forthwith.”
Recall that Itunu’s house in Abidjan Cote D’ivoire was burgled and in her bid to get justice took the case to the police for proper investigation.
While filling the case, she used Miss Becky Paul instead of her real name Itunu Babalola to write her statement and the case unfortunately turned against her as she was later accused of Human Trafficking.
