Former US President Faces Civil Lawsuit in New York Court
Former US President Donald Trump is faced with a civil lawsuit starting Monday at a New York court.
Trump and his family business were accused of fraudulently inflating the value of his assets, lying to tax collectors, lenders and insurers.
The trial came a week after Judge Arthur Engoron found Trump liable for a fraud claim and the same judge will be ruling on six more claims
New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a $250 million lawsuit alleging Trump and his co-defendants engaged in fraud by inflating assets for better commercial real estate and insurance loan terms last September.
The trial may also give the public a closer look at Trump’s business operations and net worth.

In August, the former President was criminally indicted for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results and has long faced multiple other charges
