The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is collaborating with the Judiciary for proper prosecution of traffic offenders .
Dauda Ali-Biu, the Corps Marshal, stated this in Abuja during the first strategic meeting of the year with Zonal and Commanding Officers across the country.
The Corps Marshal had written to the Head of State Judiciary for the establishment of mobile courts for quick dispensation of justice to traffic offenders, noting that the initiative was adopted to check the excesses of drivers carrying animals, goods and people together, which remains the major causes of road accidents and fatalities.
Mr Ali-Biu raised concerns about non-adherence to traffic lights, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which, he said, does not only endanger lives but undermines the credibility of the country.
The FRSC boss charged the commanding officers to redouble efforts towards ensuring strict enforcement of traffic laws and hold violators accountable for their actions.
He also cautioned against the rising cases of bribery among operatives, warning that corruption has no place in the corps.
He equally appealed to the public to continue to obey traffic rules and regulations and report cases of traffic crashes and other emergencies for prompt response.
