Governor Akeredolu Swears-in New Chief Judge, Four High Court Judges

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, has sworn in Hon. Justice Ayedun Olusegun Odusola as the state’s 12th Chief Judge.

Hon. Justice Odusola was the state’s acting chief judge until the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended him, the governor appointed him, and the State House of Assembly approved.

The governor also swore in Hon. Justice Bolatito Florence Ajibade, Hon. Justice Bankole Jacob Akinwunmi, Hon. Justice Leonard Boyede Ologun and Hon. Justice Femi Sylvester Akinbinnu as the new High Court Judge in the state.

Pastor Omofunmile Adejombo, Mrs Omolola Akinseloyin, and Mr Stanley Adeniyan were all sworn in as members of the State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) by Governor Akeredolu.

Their ceremony was held in the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Akure, Alagbaka.

The governor said that being named the chief judge or one of the other judges is the highest honour that society can give to a citizen.

He said that their appointment not only showed that they were good at running the court and practising law but also showed that they were good people.

Akeredolu said that his government would keep its promise to support the judiciary. He also said, “Amidst the challenges faced by us, especially after the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 which impacted negatively on the finances of the State, we have continued to discharge our duties with utmost care and focus.”

The governor said that he had just given permission for work to start right away on building a new, ultra-modern court complex.

The governor says that the proposed architectural masterpiece will have all the features of a modern court complex, such as 21 courtrooms, a modern ceremony hall, a library, and more.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chief Judge thanked the governor for taking the NJC’s advice and making him and four others Judges of the state High Court based on their recommendations.
