Governor Ayade, Ugwanyi Loses Bid To Join Senate, As Governor Bello, Lawan, Oshiomole, Others Elected To 10th Senate
The incumbent Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi lost the senatorial election to the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Okey Ezea. According to the results announced by INEC, Okey Ezea of LP polled 104,492 votes against Ugwuanyi’s 46,948.
Meanwhile, Governor Ben Ayade loses senatorial election to represent Cross River North. Ayade polled 56,595 votes against the incumbent senator representing Cross River North, Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe of PDP with 76,145 votes.
Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, of the All Progressives Congress has been declared the winner of the Niger North senatorial election. Bello polled 100,197 votes against the PDP and NNPP candidates who scored 88,158 and 13,886 votes respectively.
The President of the Senate, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, has been declared winner of the Yobe North Senatorial District. Lawan polled 91,318 votes to defeat Ilu Alhaji-Bello, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 22,849 votes.
Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the Ondo South Senatorial seat has emerged winner of Saturday’s general election. Mr Ibrahim polled 110,665 votes to defeat his main rival, the former deputy governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi of the PDP who polled 65, 784 votes.
The brother of Former , President Yar’adua, Colonel Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’Adua, has been declared the winner of Katsina Central senatorial election. Yar’Adua of APC scored a total of 153,512 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aminu Surajo Makera of the PDP who scored 152,140 votes.
Former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, has won the senatorial election for Ogun East. Daniel secured 115,147 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 58,708 votes.
A Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has been declared the winner of the Edo north senatorial district election. The former Edo State Governor polled 107,110 votes to defeat Francis Alimikhena of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the incumbent, who scored 55,344 votes.
Senator Gaya loses senatorial seat to NNPP’s Kawu Sumaila in Kano South Senatorial election. Sumaila polled 319,857votes to defeat his rival Gaya of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 192, 518, while Murtala Bashir Galadanci of the Peoples Democratic Party got 14,880 votes.
The Senate spokesperson, Dr Ajibola Basiru has lost his bid to return to the senate losing to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Fadeyi Olubiyi. Announcing the result of the election at the Osun Central Senatorial collation centre, Osogbo City Hall, Olonkoro, the collation officer, Professor Ibrahim Usman disclosed that Olubiyi of the PDP scored 134, 229 votes to defeat Basiru who polled 117,609
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has been re-elected for the sixth consecutive term in the just-concluded 2023 general elections. Gbajabiamila of the APC won with a wide margin of 19,717 votes to defeat his closest rival, Bosun Jeje of the PDP, who scored 5,121 votes.
Also, the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Benjamin Kalu of APC, has won the election for the seat of Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State. APC polled 10,020 votes in the constituency, beating the Labour Party candidate with 6,818; Peoples Democratic Party, 3,930; and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, with 301 votes.
On the contrary, the deputy majority whip of the House of Representatives, Nkirukah Onyejeocha, and the deputy minority whip, Gideon Gwani, have lost their reelection bids to candidates of the Labour Party in their respective constituencies in Abia and Kaduna States respectively.
Onyejeocha, who represents Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State lost to Ogah Amobi Godwin of the Labour Party. Returning officer for the constituency, Barrister Nnoma Nnochiri, declared that Onyejeicha scored the total votes of 8,752 while Ogah scored 11,769.
In the same vein, Mr Donatus Mathew of the Labour Party has won the Kaura Federal Constituency of Kaduna State. Donatus defeated the minority whip of the House of Representatives, Hon Gideon Gwani.
Meanwhile, Mr Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party has been declared the winner of the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. Attah polled 24,075 votes to defeat Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 18,666 votes.
Ginger Onwusibe of the Labour Party has been declared winner of Isialangwa North and South Federal constituency. Ginger polled a total number of 20,411 valid votes to win his PDP opponent who polled a total of 13508 votes.
Erhriatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of a former governor of Delta State and National Leader of the PDP in the state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, has floored the incumbent, Ben Rolands Igbakpa of the New Nigerian People’s Party to clinch Ethiope Federal Constituency. Ibori-Suenu polled 20,814 votes against APC 15,172; NNPP 8,901; APGA 2,155; ADC 637; ZLP 563.
