Governor Uzodinma, Ododo Pick Imo, Kogi APC Governorship Tickets

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State on Friday, emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the state’s forthcoming election.

Uzodimma was declared as the party’s candidate for the November 11 exercise by the Chairman of the Imo State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Rear Admiral William Koyoda (retd.).

The declaration was made following the party’s primary election held at Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, the state capital, where he polled 63,619 votes after the direct primary adopted by the party.

In his acceptance speech, the Governor promised to redouble his efforts in tackling insecurity and delivering good governance to the people of Imo State if re-elected.

He vowed not to disappoint the people of the state if elected for a second term and expressed optimism about winning the November exercise.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Usman Ododo, the former Auditor General for Local Governments in Kogi State, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election held in the State on Friday.

Ododo, who scored a total of 78,704 votes, won the direct primary election with a wide margin to defeat six other contestants in the governorship race.

Recall that about seven other aspirants including the state’s deputy governor, Edward Onoja, Governor Yahaya Bello’s Chief of Staff, Pharm. Mohammed Asuku, had earlier withdrawn from the gubernatorial race on the eve of the primary election.

Ododo, who won with a very wide margin, defeated the distant runner-up, Barr. Mohammed Ozigi Salami, who scored 1,506 votes while the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi, scored the least number of votes – 311.

The secretary of the Kogi State APC Primary Election Committee, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, on behalf of the chairman of the panel, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, announced the results and declared Mr. Ahmed Usman Ododo as the winner of the gubernatorial primary election.
