J-K Gadzama LLP Appoints New Managing Partner, Partners

J-K Gadzama LLP one of the leading Law Firms in Nigeria has appointed Mr. Francis Oronsaye as the new Managing Partner of the Firm. The firm also promoted Messrs. Darlington Onyekwere and Madu Joe-Kyari Gadzama who were previously Junior Partners to Partners while Messrs. Oluniyi Adediji and Jerry Ombugadu Musa were admitted into the firm’s partnership as Junior Partners.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Oronsaye was the firm’s Deputy Managing Partner. He took over from Mrs. Geraldine Mbah who left the firm earlier in the year to further her legal education in the United States.

According to the statement issued by the firm, the appointments is “geared towards the efficient management of the Firm.”

Profile of the Partners

Francis Orosonya

Mr. Orosonya is a graduate of law from the University of Benin. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008. He has a strong passion for litigation and has extensive courtroom experience having conducted Civil and Criminal matters at both trial and appellate levels.

His practice area includes, Litigation, Electoral Law, Labour/Employment Law and Human Rights Law.

He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).

Onyekwere Darlington ACIArb. (UK)

Darlington is a University of Jos graduate. He is a proactive, versatile and highly motivated lawyer and arbitrator. His thirst and drive for excellence has shaped his delivery of legal solutions. He demonstrates competence in the area of dispute resolution, particularly in the aspect of commercial litigation and labour related matters.

He has participated in the handling of many complex and high profile cases, legal transactions and arbitral proceedings.

He is a member of the International Bar Association, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Institute of Management and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).

Madu Joe Gadzama LL.M (Warwick), MCIArb., MICMC

Madu is a multi-jurisdictional lawyer, called to the Nigerian Bar in October 2015 and admitted into the Lincoln’s Inn as a barrister in England and Wales in November 2019. He is the Head of the Media and Publications Department and the Deputy-Head of the Dispute Resolution Department.

Madu obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Reading and holds a Master of Laws from the University of Warwick. He is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC). He was also the General-Manager of the Janada International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (JICAM) from January to December 2017, and is presently the Assistant Secretary of the CIArb, Abuja Chapter.

After joining the Firm in 2016, Madu worked for a year before gaining admission on the Bar Professional Training Course at the University of Law to train as a barrister in England and Wales. Madu was thereafter elevated to Junior Partner in 2018, and recently made Partner in 2021.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Young Lawyers Forum, NBA, CIArb Young Members Group, Abuja Chapter, Lincoln’s Inn and the British Nigerian Law Forum

Oluniyi Adediji

Oluniyi obtained his LL.B from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008.

He is an advocate with a penchant for thoroughness and paying attention to details with considerable experience in Litigation and Corporate Practice in general. He has advised corporate entities (both local and foreign companies) including multinationals and private individuals on various aspects of Nigerian laws and practice including but not limited to commercial litigation, debt recovery and insolvency, complex commercial transactions, taxation, real estate, corporate restructuring, immigration, and regulatory compliance for over a decade.

He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria

Jerry Ombugadu Musa

Jerry obtained his Bachelor of Laws from Nasarawa State University, Keffi and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2014.

His interest covers litigation, maritime law practice, negotiation & mediation (otherwise known as Closures), sports law practice and writing.

Jerry also has interest in developing a practice area of law referred to as developmental lawyering which involves the act of building laws, and implementation strategies/guidelines for enacted laws, policies, directives or instructions within countries (states/local councils), government institutions, companies and organizations. This strategies and guidelines will provide the necessary buy in for effective implementation and establish a structured assessment and evaluation framework for dynamism.

Jerry is a trained dispute resolution specialist, inducted by the Settlement House, Abuja, Nigeria with specialty in negotiations, mediation and consensus building.

He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
