Jigawa State Chief Judge, Justice Umar M. Sadiq has constituted and sworn-in chairmen and members of the local government elections petition and appeal tribunal.
He said the tribunal is to attend to cases that may be filed by aggrieved parties and candidates after the local government elections.
The chairman urged the members of the tribunal to shun all forms of corruption, abuse of office and to strictly adhere with the oath of allegiance to guide the conduct of their assignment.
He added that the choice of the chairmen and members of the Tribunal was based on merit and experience in the administration of justice.
“Justice Musa Ubale will serve as Chairman of the Election Appeal Tribunal, while Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu and Justice Muhammad Musa Kaugama would serve as members.
“Barrister Auwal Sani is to head the Election Tribunal in Jigawa Central, while Barrister Nuhu Suleiman Tafida and Barrister Abdullahi Ibrahim Aliyu would serve as members.
“Barrister Sa’adan Muhammad Habeeb is the Chairman of the Tribunal in Jigawa North East, while Barrister Sadiya Sale and Barrister Bashir Adamu serve as members.
“While Barrister Kabiru Abubakar Gumel is the Chairman of the Election Tribunal in Jigawa North West, Barrister Fatima Muhammad Tahir and Barrister Aliyu Abdullahi serve as members,” he said.
Justice Umar urged them to discharge their official assignment without fear or favour.
