Four officials of an Abuja-based medical facility, Alliance Hospital and Services Limited – have been arraigned before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Zuba for their alleged involvement in organ harvesting.
The four; Emmanuel Muyiwa Olorunlaye, Chikaodili Ugochukwu, Dr. Christopher Otabor and Dr. Aremu Abayomi were arraigned with the hospital on an 11-count charge brought against them by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
They are accused of being involved in the removal of the kidneys of three individuals; Adebayo Salaudeen Saliman (a 17-year old male), Yahaya Musa (also a 17-year old male) and Aminu Yahuza (25-year old male)
The defendants, who were said to have committed the alleged offences between February and May 2023, pleaded not guilty when the charge, marked: CR/193/2024 was read to them.
Justice Kezziah Ogbonnaya however granted them bail and warned them to make themselves available for trial.
Justice Ogbonnaya ordered the defendants to surrender their travel documents to the court’s Registrar and adjourned till May 6 for th commencement of trial.
