NBA Akure Branch to Investigate Child Assault Video, Seek Justice for Victim
The Nigerian Bar Association NBA Akure Branch has commenced investigation into a child abuse incident in Akure as depicted in a video on social media.
In a statement on Monday, the Publicity Secretary of NBA Akure Branch, Bosun Otitoju, Esq. said:
The attention of the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association , Akure Branch (The Sunshine Bar) has been drawn to a sordid and gory video circulating the social media in which a woman in Akure, the Ondo State Capital,was alleged to have assaulted a little boy who consequently suffered very grievous bodily harm.
Premised on the foregoing, the Chairman of the Branch, Mr. Rotimi Olorunfemi, has directed the Human Right Committee and the Women Forum of the Branch to verify the authenticity of the video and the allegation contained therein and take appropriate steps in respect of the matter.
If true, the leadership of our Branch stands to condemn in entirety this dastard and inhumane act on the innocent child and we assure the general public that the perpetrator (s) of this dastardly act will not go unpunished.
We are therefore using this medium to call on the appropriate organs of government particularly the recently established agency set up under the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law of Ondo State to the join the Akure Bar to ensure that justice is procured for the abused child.
