NBA-NEC Passes Vote Of Confidence On NBA President, Condemns Awomolo’s Attack On Akpata
The Nigeria Bar (NBA), National Executive Council (NEC), at its on going meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Nigerian Bar Association National Executive Council (NBA-NEC) has equivocally condemned attacks by Gboyega Awomolo SAN directed at the NBA President, Olumide Akpata.
In addition, the Council passed a vote of confidence on the NBA National executive committee thereby affirming their continuing support and approval for the officers.
Similarly, the Meeting took the decision to make bar practising fees from January 1, 2022, payable online marking an end to in-person payment at banks.
The Meeting also resolves that all members of the Bar that are representatives of the Bar in Agencies and Committees must give periodic reports to NEC on their activities.
The NBA-NEC also resolved that all the lawyers involved in recent matters of conflicting exparte orders granted by different divisions of the Federal High Court should be referred to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee for prosecution.
Speakers on the floor of NBA NEC expressed their disapproval over the incessant conflicting orders by some Judges of coordinate jurisdiction. Members also spoke strongly against members who engaged in the embarrassing activity of abusing the judicial system and due process, by forum shopping.
The said decision of NBA NEC affects all lawyers involved in procuring Exparte Orders in the following Suits:
