NIDCOM Condemn Killing Of Nigerian In Italy
The federal government has demanded a full investigation into the killing of a Nigerian housewife, Rita Amenze, in Italy.
In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, titled, ‘Envoy, NIDCOM, Nigerian community condemn killing of Nigerian in Italy, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), said the alleged killing of the housewife by her husband was quite unfortunate and sad.
Pellizzar, 61, allegedly shot dead his 31-year-old Nigerian wife in Italy for filing for divorce a week after she returned from Nigeria.
It was gathered that the deceased arrived in Italy in 2017 through Libya and got married to the Italian man in 2018.
Rita was shot dead in front of her colleagues in the parking lot of Mf Mushroom, a company where she worked on Friday morning, in Noventa Vicentina.
The suspect was said to have waylaid his estranged wife at about 7:30 am and shot her four times until she passed out.
After killing her, the Italian reportedly escaped from the crime scene riding a grey Cherokee Jeep which was later found abandoned at his brother’s house.
Giving an update on the sad event, Dabiri-Erewa stated that Pellizzar has been arrested.
“The Nigerian Ambassador, Mfawa Omini Abam, who has been informed about the pathetic death of the Nigerian, has promised that the Embassy will ensure that proper investigation is carried out,” the statement said.
Similarly, the President of the National Union of Nigerian Associations in Italy, Mr Rowland Ndukuba also condemned the killing and thanked the police authorities for the arrest of the suspect.
