The Senate has confirmed Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.
Her confirmation comes after hours of screening by Nigerian senators on Wednesday.
While answering questions during her screening, the CJN vowed to sanitize the nation’s judiciary. She also pledged to punish judicial officers involved in the abuse of expert orders.
With the confirmation, Kekere-Ekun becomes the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu swore in Kekere-Ekun as the second female CJN in an acting capacity in August 2024.
