The Presidential election petition tribunal today took a different turn as the Peter Obi/Labour Party Legal team presented a staff of Amazon Web Services, the company INEC hired to host their servers.
It will be recalled that on Presidential Elections day, INEC for some dubious reason decided to shut down their Presidential Portal for uploading of results while the portal for the Senatorial and House of Representatives was working perfectly.
The outcome of that incident led to a total dent in the image of the electoral body. As it will be recalled that the embattled INEC Chairman is on record saying that all elections will be uploaded in real-time and transmitted on the IREV portal for the world to see.
In their defense, INEC said they experienced glitches that made them shutdown the portal, while the then Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Pantami told the world that hackers where responsible.
The discrepancies in both arguments have thrown serious doubt into the narrative of INEC and the FG, as until a few weeks INEC was still uploading results to their portal.
Last week, Labour Party presented a witness that presented evidence of over 18,000 blurred result sheets uploaded on the INEC server.
It is important to note at this point, that the mere mentioning of the witness’ portfolio, especially, the very fact that she is an Amazon Staff, a tech engineer, an Architect, and an Amazon Web Services engineer sent noticeable shockwaves in the respondents’ team.
The Case has been adjourned to Tuesday 20th June for the cross-examination of the Witness.
