Senior Lawyer splashes N2 million worth of palliatives on NBA Ikeja Branch members

The Principal Counsel in the law firm of Emeka Ozoani & Co, and a leading member of the Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Emeka Ozoani, SAN has donated food materials valued to the tune of N2 million for distribution to members of NBA Ikeja Branch.

It would be recalled that until recently, the economies of Lagos and Ogun States as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja had been on lockdown for several weeks on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari, as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease. This measure affected virtually all sectors of the economy including legal practice and thereby occasioned economic hardship to the generality of Nigerians including members of the legal profession. To date, there has only been a phased easing of the lockdown while the ban on inter State movement remains in place.

In the wake of this development, some well meaning members of the Bar including in Lagos and Ibadan Branches had provided palliatives, in cash or food items for the benefit of their Branch members. Mr. Ozoani, SAN, who is already well known for his philanthropy and contributions towards alleviating the hardship faced by members of the profession especially young lawyers, has now joined the illustrious list.

The palliatives provided by Mr. Ozoani, SAN shall be in the form of food items to be distributed solely to members of Ikeja Branch, particularly young lawyers and aged members of the Branch. When asked about this initiative, the learned Silk expressed his earnest hopes that his modest contribution will bring succour and the needed relief to members who are in need of it.
