The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked President Bola Tinubu to publish copies of loan agreements obtained by past administrations since 1999.
In a statement, SERAP urged Tinubu to direct ministries and agencies to provide the organization with loan agreements from the governments of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, late Umaru Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and Muhammadu Buhari.
SERAP is also seeking spending details of such loans, interests paid, and an independent audit on how the loans were spent.
The group said publishing the agreements would prevent waste, corruption, and mismanagement in spending public funds.
Giving Government seven days to comply, SERAP cited Nigeria’s debt figures and interest payments on loans, expressing concern that substantial parts of the loans may have been mismanaged or stolen.
