The Supreme Court has affirmed Kefas Agbu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the validly elected governor of Taraba State after dismissing an appeal of Yahaya Sani, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
In a unanimous judgment delivered Thursday, the Apex Court held that the NNPP governorship candidate failed to discharge his burden of proof with regard to grounds for which he had faulted the outcome of the March 18 governorship election where Governor Agbu emerged winner.
Concurrent judgments at the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal had dismissed NNPP’s appeal faulting the outcome of the Taraba governorship election.
In their decisions they held that the allegations of non-compliance, irregularities and other malpractices were not proved by the appellants in line with the provisions of the law.
The Supreme Court, this Thursday, equally upheld the concurrent judgments of both the Tribunal and Court of Appeal affirming Kefas Agbu as the validly elected governor of Taraba State.
The Apex Court panel dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit.
