The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Governor of Nasarawa State.
The state election petition tribunal had sacked the governor and declared David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the winner of the March 18th governorship election.
But the appeal court reinstated Sule and held that the tribunal wrongly relied on the evidence of eight of the PDP witnesses, whose statements on oath were not front-loaded along side the petition.
A five-member panel of the apex court, in a judgment, dismissed the four appeal filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel David Ombugadu for being unmeritorious.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, in the lead judgment, resolved all the issues identified for determination, against the PDP and Ombugadu.
Justice Kekere-Ekun proceeded to dismiss the appeal.
