With less than 48 hours to the NBA National elections, Mr. Oluwole Iyamu, SAN, has endorsed Olumide Akpata for 30th NBA President. Mr. Iyamu’s endorsement is reproduced below:
“My name is Oluwole Iyamu, I am a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. I am also the Solicitor General & Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Edo State. Prior to joining the Official Bar, I was in private legal practice, as a result of which I can say I have experienced a bit of both worlds and I have first hand knowledge of some of the intractable issues that plague the legal profession in Nigeria.
It is on the strength of the above experience that I welcome the candidacy of Olumide Akpata for the office of President of the Nigerian Bar Association in the Elections taking place tomorrow, 29 July 2020.
The NBA is the umbrella professional association of all lawyers admitted to the Bar in Nigeria but for too long, not all components of that Association have been treated as equal members of that umbrella. Olumide Akpata is undoubtedly the best placed candidate to bring about an all-inclusive Association.
Beyond that, Olu is tried and tested. He personifies excellence in service delivery, as demonstrated in the various capacities in which he has served our noble Association. It is altogether fitting that we accord him our full support to attain this high and noble office and also assist him in ensuring that when he wins, he characteristically gives his all to laying the solid foundation for an Association that works for the benefit of all members.
I wholeheartedly endorse Olumide Akpata for NBA President and encourage you to vote for him.
-Oluwole Iyamu, SAN
